2010 foi um ano de grandes irregularidades para os canais de TV aberta, enquanto a ascensão da TV à cabo bateu recordes de audiência em suas novas produções. Oficialmene encerrada no dia 25 de Maio, a temporada 2010/2011 apresenta um quadro de mudanças que reflete o nível (não) criativo das produções atuais que nos 'entopem' de remakes e séries do gênero mais lucrativo da atualidade, o forense/policial.
O site Nielsen divulgou números de audiência da TV norte-americana com o objetivo de dar a oportunidade aos anuciantes e executivos das emissoras de analizar o desempenho de cada canal junto ao público que acompanha tais programas. Sendo a faixa etária entre 18 e 49 anos alvo dos anunciantes, ela ganhará destaque junto ao número geral de telespectadores nas listas a seguir:

A CBS vence pelo 8º ano consecutivo, o posto de canal mais assistido dos EUA, assim como a FOX que alcança maiores números em relação ao público alvo dos anunciantes pelo 7º ano consecutivo.

Refletindo o crescimento do público da TV à cabo americana, as porcentagens mostram quedas entre todos os canais de TV aberta: A ABC perdeu 8.7% entre o público alvo e 2% no total de telespectadores; a CBS perdeu 8.1% e 2%; o CW perdeu 4.9% e 1%; e a Fox perdeu 4.8% e 3%. A maior perda registrada é a da rede NBC, que sofreu uma queda de 13.8% entre seu público alvo e 15% no total de telespectadores.
